Linking Google Analytics to Google Ads is a good idea because it enables you to see how the ads you run are performing in comparison to the rest of your traffic. For example, you can see how many people are clicking on your ads versus how many people are clicking on your organic search results. Then, you can determine if your ad spends are a good investment for your business.

You can also use Google Analytics to evaluate your website’s overall performance. For example, you can see if your site is meeting your goals for traffic, leads, and conversions. You can also see if you’re meeting your site’s performance goals for page load times, mobile responsiveness, and other technical metrics.

If you’re not using Google Analytics, you’re missing out on valuable insights about your website’s and your ads’ performance.

How to link Google Analytics to Google Ads

Before you do anything, ensure you have access to both the Google Ads and Analytics accounts that you want to link. Your Google Account must have both Edit permission for the Analytics property and Administrative Access to the Google Ads account. Once linked these permissions can be removed or modified if necessary.

Step 1 : In Google Analytics select the Property you want to link at the top left.

Step 2 : In Google Analytics, click on the Admin gear icon at the bottom left of the screen.

Step 3: Click Google Ads linking in the panel that opens.

Step 4: Click Link.

Step 5: Click Choose Google Ads Accounts.

Step 6: Select the Google Ads account you want to link and click Confirm.

Step 7: Click Next.

Step 8: Leave Personalized Advertising on depending on whether you want to import your Google Analytics remarketing data into Google Ads (usually a good idea). Leave auto-tagging on if you’re not using manual tagging and click Next.

Step 9: Review the details and click Submit.

That’s it, you’re finished. Now you can import Google Analytics audiences, goals, conversions and other data into Google Ads, and vice versa.
